Youri started his career with a traineeship with us and quickly managed to grow into a work planner. Yet he soon felt the urge for a position with more challenge and responsibility. "My ambitions went further than what my telecom client could offer me at that time. I raised this with The People Group and together we looked at possible next steps. Ultimately, the energy sector turned out to be a good option because it involves more rules, certificates and training. This creates more responsibilities and that appealed to me," he says.

Youri has big ambitions in the energy industry. Ultimately, he wants to end up as a project leader. But before he achieves that, he first wants to take courses and become an executor. "I first want to experience all facets of the work, so that I can gain the full trust of my colleagues, before I become a project leader."

For anyone considering entering the energy industry, and in particular underground infrastructure, Youri has simple advice: "Just do it! Go to an energy company and delve into the matter. The work is much more interesting than most people think. Ultimately, the buildings above ground cannot function without the work underground."
